After-Hours Intrusion Detection

Detects presence and movement inside buildings, yards and restricted zones during the hours a site is configured as closed, and logs every out-of-hours event with its clip.

What it detects

An empty site is the easiest detection problem there is: anything moving is worth a look. These are the out-of-hours events Fogsphere surfaces.

Out-of-hours presence

Identifies people inside buildings, yards, plant rooms and back-of-house areas during configured closed hours.

Break-in indicators

Flags forced doors, broken glazing, movement at shutters and activity at tank, cage and till areas outside trading hours.

Night-time activity on temporary sites

Covers construction and project sites where fence lines, cabins and laydown areas move week to week, adapting as the site layout changes.

Unauthorised vehicle movement

Detects vehicles entering, moving through or leaving the site outside the hours their authorisation covers.

Restricted deck, control-room and cabinet access

Surfaces presence in control rooms, switchrooms, server halls and equipment enclosures where no work is scheduled.

Lone worker versus unexpected presence

Separates a known lone worker or scheduled night shift from an unexpected presence, using the shift and permit schedule for that zone.

High-value store and cage access

Flags cage doors opened, stock removed and store-room activity outside the hours those areas are meant to be worked.

Door forced-open detection

Identifies doors opened against their normal sequence — forced, levered or opened from the wrong side.

Restricted-storage access outside hours

Detects entry to cold rooms, medication rooms, chemical stores and similar controlled storage outside their scheduled access windows.

Schedule-aware zoning

Applies a different definition of “closed” per zone, per day and per shift pattern, including planned shutdowns, holidays and outage weeks.

Where it applies

After-hours detection is named in nine of the twelve Q3 papers. It is the most consistently requested security capability across retail, oil & gas forecourt, construction, manufacturing, logistics and healthcare.

How it works

Edge inference on the cameras you already have

Out-of-hours detection uses the cameras already covering the space. Inference runs on-site, so a closed and unstaffed location does not depend on an uplink to be watched.

Zones, thresholds and schedules you configure

The schedule is the configuration. Set closed hours, shift patterns, permitted night activity and planned shutdowns per zone, so a scheduled maintenance window does not generate the same alerts as an empty Sunday.

Every event carries its own evidence

Each detection is logged with a timestamp, the camera and zone it came from, and a short clip. The record can be reviewed, exported or attached to an investigation without trawling through hours of footage.

Feeds the systems already in place

Events surface in Fogsphere Manager and route outward to the VMS, access-control platform, control-room wallboard, ticketing queue or messaging channel operators already watch.

Risk & control objective

The control objective is a reliable answer to a simple question: was anyone here when the site was supposed to be empty, and what did they do? Most sites can only answer it retrospectively, by pulling footage after something is found missing the next morning.

The difficulty is never detection — it is the schedule. Real sites are rarely fully closed. Night shifts, contractor call-outs, cleaning crews, permitted maintenance and lone workers all legitimately occupy an “empty” site. Detection that cannot represent that ends up muted. The schedule model is therefore the product, and the detection is the easy part.

For unstaffed and remote locations the economics are decisive. Substations, forecourts, project sites and satellite depots cannot justify manned guarding, but they hold enough value to warrant a record. Edge inference on existing cameras gives those sites the same out-of-hours log a staffed site gets from its guard.
