Cold-Chain Excursion Detection
Detects product left outside refrigeration, doors left open, and reefer and cold-room handling that puts a temperature-controlled load at risk.

What it detects
Temperature loggers tell you an excursion happened. They do not tell you which pallet, which door, or who was standing next to it. Fogsphere supplies the second half of that record.
Product left outside refrigeration
Detects product and pallets left outside cold storage, and times how long each has been exposed.
Product dwell in ambient zones
Measures pallet exposure duration in ambient zones against the limit set for that product.
Door-open duration and doors left open
Times cold-room, freezer and reefer door openings, and flags doors left open beyond their limit.
Cold-room access control
Flags unauthorised access to cold rooms and freezers, and access outside scheduled hours.
Reefer presence and door discipline
Detects reefer trailer presence at each bay, and reports cold-room door discipline by shift.
Refrigerated loading and unloading
Monitors refrigerated truck loading and unloading, and the time a load spends between two controlled environments.
Reefer arrival and departure
Logs reefer arrival and departure times, and dwell at the bay before and after loading.
Temperature excursion correlation
Correlates a logger’s excursion with the visual record around it, so a reading arrives with a cause attached.
Cold-chain break detection
Flags the handling sequences that constitute a cold-chain break, rather than only the temperature that resulted.
Loading-bay exposure
Reports how long temperature-controlled product sits on the loading bay between cold store and trailer.
Refrigeration efficiency indicators
Surfaces door-open patterns, ambient dwell and cold-area exposure as an energy and refrigeration-efficiency picture.
Where it applies
Cold chain runs through the logistics, retail and healthcare papers as a quality obligation and through the chemical paper as a controlled-storage one. The handling detections are the same in each.
How it works
Edge inference on the cameras you already have
Detection of product, pallets, doors and reefer state runs on the edge device next to cameras already covering cold rooms, docks and staging. Exposure is timed from the frames, not inferred from a logger.
Zones, thresholds and schedules you configure
Draw the cold room, dock face and ambient staging area, set the exposure limit for each product class, and set the door-open time that counts as an excursion. Chilled, frozen and controlled-ambient zones can each hold different rules.
Every event carries its own evidence
Each detection is logged with a timestamp, the camera and zone it came from, and a short clip. The record can be reviewed, exported or attached to a quality or HACCP record without trawling through hours of footage.
Feeds the systems already in place
Events surface in Fogsphere Manager and route outward to the WMS, quality system, HACCP record, refrigeration BMS or messaging channel operators already watch.
Risk & control objective
The control objective is a cold chain that can be evidenced pallet by pallet. Loggers record temperature over time; they do not record that the pallet in question spent fifty minutes on an ambient dock while a trailer was repositioned.
The value is that the visual record closes the gap between an excursion and its cause. A door-open event, an exposure duration and an operator action, all timestamped, turn a temperature graph into something a corrective action can be written against.
The same detections carry into two other conversations. Quality asks whether the batch is releasable. Energy asks why the refrigeration plant is running hard. Door-open duration answers both.
