Misplaced Equipment Detection
Detects equipment, tools and material stored in the wrong place, left unattended, or missing from where the register says it should be.

What it detects
Most equipment loss is not theft — it is an asset put down somewhere nobody thinks to look. Fogsphere logs where things are put, and flags where they should not be.
Misplaced or incorrectly stored assets
Flags equipment and material stored outside its designated area, or stacked where storage is not permitted.
Unattended equipment and tools left out
Detects tools, bins and portable equipment left out at the end of a shift or beyond a configured dwell.
Wrong-zone storage
Identifies pallets, racks and containers placed in the wrong lane, aisle or zone against the storage plan.
High-value equipment tracking
Logs the movement of high-value plant, tool containers and portable equipment across gates, yards and work fronts.
Missing equipment in laydown yards
Monitors laydown yards, tool containers and fuel bowsers, and flags equipment that is no longer where it was logged.
Temporary equipment left behind
Surfaces temporary equipment, scaffold components and site services left in place after a job has closed out.
Medical-equipment location and misplacement
Detects beds, pumps, carts and mobile devices left in corridors, the wrong ward or non-clinical space.
Equipment blocking corridors and access
Flags carts, cages and equipment obstructing corridors, escape routes, electrical rooms and service access.
Pallets and material in walkways
Detects pallets, debris and loose material left in pedestrian walkways and aisles.
Unauthorised removal
Logs equipment moving out through a gate or door outside its booked window, with a clip attached to the movement.
Where it applies
Anywhere equipment moves between zones and is recorded by hand, the register drifts from reality. The Q3 papers describe the same pattern in yards, wards, warehouses and plant rooms.
How it works
Edge inference on the cameras you already have
Object detection and placement classification run on the edge next to existing cameras in yards, corridors and storage areas. No tag on every item, no handheld-scanner discipline required.
Zones, thresholds and schedules you configure
Draw the areas each class of equipment belongs in, set the dwell after which an item counts as left out, and set the hours those rules apply. A tool container, a ward corridor and a laydown bay can each hold different rules.
Every event carries its own evidence
Each detection is logged with a timestamp, the camera and zone it came from, and a short clip. The record can be reviewed, exported or attached to an investigation without trawling through hours of footage.
Feeds the systems already in place
Events surface in Fogsphere Manager and route outward to the asset register, CMMS, security desk, ticketing queue or messaging channel operators already watch.
Risk & control objective
The control objective is knowing where equipment is without a manual walk-round. Asset registers record what was bought and issued; they do not record that a generator was left behind a container three weeks ago.
The value shows up in the search. Most of the cost of a misplaced asset is the hours spent looking for it, the replacement hired while the search runs, and the work front that waits. A timestamped record of where the item was last seen collapses all three.
The same detections feed a housekeeping picture. Repeated wrong-zone storage in one aisle, or the same tool left out every Friday, is a pattern about a process rather than an incident about an object.
